TORN BETWEEN TWO SYSTEMS: Improving Chronic Care in Medicare and Medicaid

April 29, 1997

The Committee will examine the treatment received by chronically ill persons who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. The lack of coordination in treating these dual eligibles can lead to a deterioration on their quality of life and waste scarce health care dollars. The Committee will look for ways to restructure the chronic health care delivery system in order to better serve persons currently thrown back and forth between Medicare and Medicaid.
