Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) today introduced the Generating Antibiotic Incentives Now (GAIN) Act, bipartisan legislation to spur development of new antibiotics to combat the spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria. Senators Blumenthal and Corker were joined by Senators Bennet (D-CO), Hatch (R-UT), Casey (D-PA), and Alexander (R-TN).

With the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction considering proposals to reduce federal spending, including possible reforms to Medicare, this hearing will review testimony to identify ideas that can be embraced by both parties to control Medicare spending and extend the solvency of the program.
