Casey’s Spotlight: Celebrating Senior Center Month

Dear Friends:

As the Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, I was honored to submit a Statement for the Congressional Record recognizing September as National Senior Center Month. Senior centers are the heart of their communities and offer a place to gather with friends, enjoy a nutritious meal, access counseling or employment assistance programs, and so much more.

I visited numerous senior centers across Pennsylvania this summer. At each stop, older Pennsylvanians told me about the important role senior centers play in their lives. Many older Americans rely on senior centers and their dedicated staff to stay active and healthy, and they deserve our support. Senior centers are fulfilling their promise to older Americans, and I am committed to ensuring that the federal government does the same.
