Casey’s Spotlight: The Republican Health Care Plan Threatens Rural Hospitals and Local Economies

This week, I released a report outlining the importance of rural hospitals to older Americans and the economies of these communities. The report explains how the Republican health care plan jeopardizes Medicaid funding that allows these hospitals to remain open. The population in rural communities tends to be older, and timely access to affordable care at rural hospitals is essential. Rural hospitals also are major employers in rural communities.

The reductions in Medicaid funding in the Republican plan is a direct threat to the health care, jobs, and economic growth of rural communities.
