Casey’s Spotlight: Grandparents Day

Dear Friends:

As you may know, September 10 was Grandparents Day - a day to honor the contributions of loving grandparents everywhere. This year, I am pleased to particularly honor grandparents raising their grandchildren.

In March, the Aging Committee held a hearing on the challenges faced by grandparents and other relatives raising children, and I introduced the Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act, to better support the needs of these grandparents.

Last night, I was honored to receive Generations United’s Grandfamilies Champion Award for these efforts to help our incredible grandfamilies. I will continue to work vigorously on their behalf as we work to get my bill to the President’s desk.
