WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging Ranking Member Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Chairman Bob Casey (D-Penn.) released the following statements on the unanimously passed bipartisan resolution declaring the month of May Older Americans Month. The resolution recognizes the strong foundation older Americans have built for our nation and acknowledges the important role they play in our society.
“Americans from every walk of life owe a debt of gratitude to our seniors for laying the foundation for a strong future,” said Senator Scott. “Our nation recognizes their important legacies, hard work, and selfless sacrifice on behalf of future generations. It’s an honor to serve as ranking member on the committee that is working to ensure seniors are valued.”
“Older Americans enrich our society every day and have contributed in so many ways to the strength of our Nation. This resolution recognizes seniors and acknowledges the disproportionate toll of COVID-19 on older adults. It also serves as a reminder to all of us that we must continue to support policies that lift up older individuals as they age,” said Senator Casey.
Senators Scott and Casey’s resolution was cosponsored by members of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging including Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Mike Braun (R-Ind), Richard Burr (R-N.C.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Mark Kelly (R-Ariz.), Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Raphael G.
